How to Stop Pop-up Description for Folder Easily

Posted by Britt Duncan - January 13, 2015

Windows pop-up description allows you to have basic information about items inside a folder, like type and date modified. But if you find it a bit annoying and totally unnecessary, you can prevent it from popping up easily. Here is how.

Open up libraries or a random folder. On the menu bar at the top of the opening window, click Tools -> Folder Options.

Once the Folder Options opens up, move to View tab and scroll down the list. There will be an option for you to disable pop-up description as it is displayed as Show pop-up description for folder and desktop items. All you need to do is to tick off the check-box before it and hit OK.

Thus, there won’t be any pop-up messages when you hover the mouse near the folder.
