How to Pin Windows Update to the Taskbar in Windows 7 and Windows 8

When we are running Windows 7, we can check for updates by clicking Windows Update from Start menu. But we’ll feel upset for the shortcut cannot be pinned to the taskbar. While in Windows 8, we cannot do neither. Well, take the following trick to get better access to Windows Update in Windows 7 and Windows 8.

Step by Step Pin Windows Update to the Taskbar in Win7

Step one- Click the Windows 7 Start menu> All Programs, and right-click Windows Update. Hold the right mouse button as you drag it onto the desktop. When you release the mouse button, click Create Shortcuts here.

Step two- Right-click on the Windows Update desktop shortcut, and click Properties.

Step three- Enter cmd /c wuapp.exe in the Target box.

Step four- Select Minimized from the Run drop-down list.

Step five- Click Apply and OK to close the Properties window.

Step six- Drag the Windows Update shortcut from the desktop onto the taskbar.

Step one- Right click on an empty area of the desktop, and click New and select Shortcut.

Step two- Paste either command below in the location box. And then click Next.

Step three- Type Windows Update for the name, and click on the Finish button.

Step four- Right click on the new Windows Update shortcut, and select Properties.

Step five- In Shortcut tab, click Change Icon.

Step six- Type the following location into the box. And press Enter.

Step seven- Highlight the Windows Update icon, and click OK.

Right click on the Windows Update shortcut on the desktop, and choose Pin to Taskbar. Or just drag it to the Taskbar.
