How to Make Folders Open in A New Window

In Windows, the contents of the folder will appear in the same folder window when you open a folder within a folder. If you want to return to the former folder, you will need to click a Back button. You may think the way opening folders it is not convenience enough though it can keep your desktop tidy and clean. Here we will show you how to make each folder only opens in its own folder.

For Windows 7 and 8

Open the Control Panel and click Appearance and Personalization, and click Folder Options.

In General tab, check the check-box of Open each folder in its own window. And click Apply > OK.

For Mac

Click the desktop, open the Finder menu in the top-left corner of the screen and select Preferences.

In General tab, check the check-box of Always open folders in a new window.
