How to Fix: Cannot Adjust Brightness in Windows 8

There are time when changing brightness in your newly-upgraded Windows 8 may not work and no matter how many times you try to change the parameters of screen brightness, it remains the same. This is likely caused by outdated drive and may pose as a hassle to various PC users. In this post, detailed steps to fix this problem will be introduced.

Hit Win + R keys together to bring up Search function. Put in device manager and select it from the search result list.


Right after the Device Manger box opens up and expend Display adapters. Then, right click on the available graphic card and select Properties.


Next, the dialogue box of properties opens up, move to Drive tab and click Update Drive option.


There will be option for you to check for driver update automatically or manually. Click the second link.


On the next pop-up box, click Let me pick from a list of device on my computer. Thus, you will be able to manually choose the target drive to update.


On the listed items, choose your driver and hit Next. Once the update checking process completes, restart the machine to have a check.
