How to Fix BOOTMGR is Missing Error in Vista or Windows 7

Are you receiving Missing Boot Manager error? If the problem is not hardware related, it will be fixed within a Windows DVD or a system repair disc manually.

Boot off the Windows Vista DVD and click Next at the first prompt.

You will get a link for Repair your computer.

The installation process will detect your Vista installation directory. If there’s more than one in the list, select the correct one and then click the Next button again.

Select the Startup Repair option.

Then the startup repair will start to fix the issue.

If you are required to restart the operating system, please do it. If it doesn’t work after reboot, you can open the Command Prompt and use the following command to fix the boot options only:

bootrec /FixMbr
bootrec /FixBoot
bootrec /RebuildBcd
command prompt
Now close the command prompt, remove the DVD and reboot your computer.
