How to Disable Autorun & AutoPlay in Windows 8

Posted by Britt Duncan - July 25, 2014

Since Windows XP, Windows comes with Autorun and AutoPlay features which are turned on by default. Autorun provides you only with two choices including to run the media or not when you insert external media (CD, DVD, drives, etc.). While AutoPlay offers more options to you to choose what media player you would like to play the media with. However, computer viruses or malicious software can be spread by cyber criminals through removal devices or media. If you allow the inserted media to play automatically, PC threats will attack the system furtively. In such case, Autorun or AutoPlay becomes a nuisance for most computer users. Hence, we’ll show a few ways to disable AutoPlay in Windows 8.
