How to Defrag Hard Drive Automatically

When you use your PC over time, your hard drive will be bound to get a lot of chunk of data. In this case, your system resources will be less than before and computer performance could be degraded. If you want to speed up your computer and use it smoothly, you will need to occasionally run a special tool to pack the data in your hard drive as tightly as possible. But most of time, computer users don’t pay much attention to defragment their hard drives because they prefer to strive for the time to do more things. With this in mind, we have made a tutorial to show you how to defragment hard drive automatically. So, you will save your time and maintain a good PC performance at the same time.

Note: Please set Disk Defragmenter to run automatically once a month. After all, frequently defragmenting hard drive is not good for the Windows operating system.

If you are a computer novice, you can follow the steps below to optimize your system:

1. Open the Start Menu and click All Programs.
2. Select Accessories > System Tools > Disk Defragment.

3. Click Configure schedule and make sure the Run on a schedule box is checked.
4. Set up a defragmentation schedule and select Monthly. Then pick a time when your computer is most likely powered up.

5. Click select disks to choose which hard drives to defragment and click OK.
