Guide to Disable Automatic App Updating in Windows 8.1

Automatic Updates in Windows brings convenience to most of computer users. It will help you timely update the applications that are downloaded from the Store so as to ensure that you avoid bugs and enjoy perfect experience. However, for some of computer users, they may not be interested in the new version of a particular application. The reason is that updating a program usually adds and removes some features. That is to say, the feature you like may disappear in the new version. If you also have this annoyance, you can follow the tutorial to disable the automatic app updating in Windows 8.1.

1. Open the Store, and press Win and C keys together to pull up the Charm bar, click Settings.

2. Click the App updates in the list on the right side.

3. On the App updates section, you will see the Automatically update my apps option is set to Yes. Move the slider to the left, the automatic app updating will be disabled.

From this point forward you will need to manually check for app updates. This is done in the same place. You just open the Charms bar, click Settings > App updates, and then click the Check for updates button.
