Fix Windows Error: Default Gateway Not Available

You may get this error “Default Gateway Not Available” when you try running the network troubleshooter in Windows 8 or Windows 8.1. Usually, this error will occur when the network adapter is turned off automatically to reduce the power consumption. It is easy to deal with this case. The following steps will help you solve this problem.

1. Log into the Windows 8.1 system as the Administrator.

2. Then click on the File Explorer tile on the Start screen.

3. Right-click on This PC from the left pane and select Manage.

4. Click Device Manager from the left pane on the Computer Management.

5. Look for Network adapters and then expand it. Right-click on the network adapter that is facing trouble. Select Properties.

6. Go to Power Management tab and uncheck the “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power” checkbox.

7. When it is done, save the changes by clicking on the OK button. Finally, restart the PC so that the changes will take effect.
