Posted by Britt Duncan - September 15, 2014

Pictures don’t display as thumbnail preview after reinstalling the operating system? Actually, it is a very common problem in various Windows systems like Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8. If you are looking a way to fix the problem, you can check out this Windows tutorial.

Open Windows Explorer, click on Tools in toolbar and select Folder options.

Move to View tab, look at the Files and Folders, and make sure that Always show icons, never thumbnails is disabled. If the option is enabled, uncheck the checkbox and click Apply > OK.

If the above mentioned solution doesn’t work, you can fix the problem via the alternative way:

Right-click on Computer icon, and select Properties.

Select Advanced system settings, move to Advanced tab. Click on Settings button on the Performance section.

On Visual Effects tab, select Custom, and check the checkbox of Show thumbnails instead of icons. Click Apply > OK button.

Then the pictures can show in thumbnail preview properly.
