Enable Encrypt Contents to Secure Data Option in Windows 8

In the previous article, we have learned how to encrypt files and folders. But according to some computer users, they find the Encrypt contents to secure data option is disabled in their system. If you have the same trouble, please follow this tutorial to enable the option in Windows 8.1.

1. Go the Desktop and press Win + R keys to open Run box. Type regedit and click OK.

2. Click the Registry Editor, and navigate to the location as below:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\FileSystem

3. Look for the NtfsDisableEncryption in the right pane of the Registry Editor.

4. Double click the NtfsDisableEncryption to change its value data. Then change the value 1 to value 0 and click OK button.

5. Reboot your PC so that the modification you made can take effect.
